Effective July 31, 2026
Privacy Policy
This policy explains the information HomeScope Guide collects, why it is used, and the choices available to visitors. Please do not submit sensitive personal, financial, health, identity, or payment information.
Information you provide
If you request a planning checklist or updates, we collect the information entered in the form: name, email address, project ZIP code, selected city, project type, and approximate project size. We use it to provide requested resources, understand homeowner interests, improve the site, and send occasional project-planning communications when consent is given. You may unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time using the instructions in those messages.
Homeowner Field Notes
If you submit a Homeowner Field Note, we collect the display name or initials you choose, email address, city or municipality, state, project description, permit experience, confusing steps, documents requested, lessons learned, consent, and submission time. The email address is kept private and used for verification or editorial follow-up. Field Notes are stored as pending and are not published automatically. We may edit, anonymize, decline, or remove a submission and will not intentionally publish private addresses, permit numbers, payment information, or sensitive personal information.
Privacy-friendly analytics
We use first-party, cookie-free analytics to understand page visits and a small set of useful actions, including calculator use, guide visits, checklist requests, municipal-link clicks, and bid-tool use. These records contain the page path, event type, referring website domain when available, limited non-identifying event details, and time of the event. We do not create advertising profiles, store analytics cookies, record form entries in analytics, or intentionally collect names, email addresses, precise location, or IP addresses for analytics. Global Privacy Control signals disable this measurement in supported browsers.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that support hosting, analytics, storage, security, and communications, subject to their own terms and safeguards. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or complete a business reorganization.
Retention and security
Information is retained only as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, operational records, dispute prevention, and legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no website, database, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices
- Do not submit the checklist form if you do not want its fields stored.
- Use the unsubscribe option in an email to stop optional planning updates.
- Enable Global Privacy Control in a supported browser to disable first-party analytics events.
- Where applicable law grants access, correction, deletion, or similar rights, HomeScope Guide will honor valid requests received through a published contact channel after reasonable identity verification.
Children and external sites
The site is intended for adults planning home projects and is not directed to children under 13. Links to municipal agencies and other third parties lead to services HomeScope Guide does not control; their privacy practices govern their sites.
Policy changes
We may update this policy as the site and its practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
